Initially this project was presented as a chance to improve a high profile experience on ModCloth with fast, incremental change. Our small team quickly realized that in order to make a big impact we needed to take a few–okay, many–steps back and take a hard look at all the pieces of the experience.
Through several rounds of research and design iterations we landed on a solution that resulted in 12% increase in conversion, 3X the number of clicks to other products, and 18% increase in add to bags.
Working iteratively meant sketching when necessary rather than heavy documentation, working side by side with the engineers and constantly testing our thinking against real customers through both qualitative and quantitative research. In the end it was a very successful project with an extremely small team that truly focused on the customer as well as exceeding the expectations of ModCloth's leadership. The best kind of project.
